the xigga Project, 2013-2017
The xigga project is a series of creative activations that bring to life the ideological framework of xigga. Through the lens of afrofuturism, metaphysics, history, and culture, xigga honors the complicated and beautiful ways that Black people navigate being both magic and marginalized.
With DIY zines, word art, story-circles, music, doodles, pop-up murals and public art installations, the xigga project continues to be shared through DIY creative activations that inspire powerful connection, visionary community, and creative courage. The xigga project has hosted creative gatherings, outdoor activations, and story circles in Washington, DC, Brooklyn, NY, Los Angeles, CA, and Austin, TX.
